A 'Zine is a DIY, self-published magazine. Last year, I designed, wrote, and distributed this 8 page Zine, 'Jouissance,' to explore the power of words. Inside is an article about the Latin phrase memento mori and its paradoxical association with both life and death, a brief story about graffiti art as a legitimate mode of self-expression, and a collection of poems that are meaningful to me (including one I wrote myself). The back cover is a collage of 'Post Secrets,' which are postcards on which people admit their most private secrets, and then submit them anonymously to be posted online or published in an anthology. Upon its completion, around a hundred copies were made and [anonymously] distributed throughout my hometown of Chatham-Kent and surrounding areas.
